Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a custom dining table cost?

Our custom dining tables typically run four thousand to twelve thousand dollars depending on size, species, base style, and finish. A four-top walnut table with tapered legs and Rubio finish sits at the lower end. A twelve-top white oak trestle for eight to ten runs higher. Every quote is exact after a fifteen-minute call to walk through the room, the chairs, and the specs.

How long does a custom hardwood piece take to build?

Most builds run eight to sixteen weeks from deposit to delivery. Doors, mantels, and small pieces are usually faster. Full library walls and complex built-ins can run longer because the drying and finish schedule for that much hardwood adds three to four weeks. We give you a real window before you sign, not a placeholder.

Do you ship outside Arkansas?

Yes. We deliver and install ourselves anywhere within about a hundred miles of Little Rock. Everything else gets crated and freight-shipped, nationally and internationally. Shipping is quoted after the piece is finished so the number matches the actual weight and dimensions.

What wood species do you build in?

Walnut, white oak, ash, maple, cherry, and mahogany are what we build in most often. Reclaimed white oak on request. We source domestic hardwood whenever possible.

Do you offer trade pricing for interior designers?

Yes. About eighty percent of our work is through designers. Our trade program includes trade pricing on every quote, shop drawings before we cut, selection sheets for wood and finish, delivery and install where applicable, and photography rights on the finished piece. Details at mahoganyandhyde.com/trade.

Do you build in rustic or farmhouse style?

No. Our lines are mid-century modern. Clean, considered, solid hardwood. If a rustic or farmhouse piece is what you're after, we're not the right shop and we'll say so.

What finish do you use?

Rubio Monocoat on almost every piece. It penetrates the wood instead of sitting on top, so scratches buff out with a spot repair. Poly and lacquer look great on day one and crack by year five. Rubio ages the way solid wood is supposed to.

Do you install pieces you build?

Yes for local projects. Anywhere within about a hundred miles of Little Rock we handle delivery and install ourselves. Install pricing is separate on the quote and you can opt out if you have your own person. Farther out, we crate and ship freight and provide detailed install instructions with hardware pack.

What size deposit do you require?

Fifty percent down to schedule the build and order wood. The remaining fifty percent is due before delivery or shipment.

Do you warranty your work?

Every piece we build is warranted for the lifetime of the original owner. Wood moves. Joinery loosens once every few decades. Bring it back to us and we take care of it.
